MAGMA is one of the major manufacturers for retail refrigerated equipment and retail “dry” equipment designed to provide shops, supermarkets and hypermarkets with a complete set of applications. Realization of the MAGMA project did not start from a blank space. The KS-RUS Group of Companies has being presented on the retail equipment market for 12 years. The Group is one of the key players among the manufacturers of “dry shelving furniture” in Russia. More than 180 dealers in Russia and neighboring countries are selling KS-RUS products.
KS-RUS Group comprises 3 manufacturing Companies in Kostroma and a Company in Sudislavl. The potential of the production areas and machinery stock make it possible to produce more then 30’000 units of “dry” retail equipment, and about 1000 units of refrigerated equipment each month. More than 700 workers are employed to create MAGMA products. All industrial units of the Group are equipped with modern high-technology machinery made in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Italy and USA.

There are two metal working plants with a total production area of 25 000 square meters and a wood furniture factory that comprise the basic manufacturing capacity of the Group. All manufacturing facilities equipped with modern high-technology machinery made in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Italy and USA make it possible to produce more then 30’000 units of “dry” retail equipment, and about 1000 units of refrigerated equipment each month.

Besides the manufacturing units, there are some other organizations making up the Group, particularly the engineering office in Moscow, Export-Import office and warehouse in Pushkino, Moscow Region.

MAGMA Project had been initiated in 2006. The set of main technical objectives included, but not limited to the determination and elaboration of categories, types and styles of equipment, the supplying of the plant with machinery and tooling, and to define the technological process. These tasks have been successfully carried out by Russian as well as foreign engineers, technicians and designers, possessing absolute experience in this area.

By the end of 2006 the building of a plant was finished, and installation of the machinery was completed. In the beginning of 2007 the plant has manufactured its first experimental display cabinets. A follow on certification make it possible to set up 4 assembling lines for serial production in March of the same year.

Marketing research and analysis as well as the requirements of Distributors and Customers employing refrigerated retail equipment, has provided the basis for the concept of the product, pricing policy and promotion strategy.

Historically, all Russian manufacturers of refrigerated display cabinets have focused on the products with incorporated condensing unit. As a result the machinery and technologies of production have been oriented to produce cabinets with small display area depth and minor length of the cabinet per se. In opposite, Magma Project was oriented towards the production of refrigerated equipment with remote condensing unit. Employment of high quality components and high level of technology provide the basis to establish a 2 year warranty for MAGMA products.

First month of serial production of refrigerated retail equipment provided dealers of European and Siberian regions of Russia with a possibility to furnish more than 10 grocery stores. The newly created distribution network for MAGMA refrigerated equipment has joined association of KS-RUS distributors of “dry” shelving, thus significantly expanding the overall sales.

As soon as the newly settled plant initiated serial manufacturing of MAGMA equipment, the main objective for the KS-RUS Group of Companies, which was to furnish the Customer with all types of retail applications (including refrigerated cabinets, dry shelving, checkout counters etc), has been fulfilled.
